What is VizOps?

VizOps is the practice of managing the entire computer vision lifecycle, from data collection and model training to deployment and monitoring, while addressing the unique challenges of processing video and image data and the distinctive endpoint environment of cameras.

CODE

Write vision logic using familiar tools, filters encapsulate AI models, rules, and processing steps as modular units that can be composed and reused.

CAPTURE

Automatically ingest and organize video from edge devices, IP cameras, and archived footage,  no format wrangling required.

CURATE

Use automation to deduplicate, tag, and pre-annotate frames, reducing labeling time and improving dataset quality for training.

TRAIN

Train or fine-tune models with real-world data, benchmark results, and test performance continuously, all within a repeatable loop.

DEPLOY

Deploy filters across edge, cloud, or laptop,  with support for version control, rollbacks, and hardware-specific builds.

SERVE

Run models in real-time, turn vision into structured insights, and feed downstream systems, all while collecting telemetry for continuous improvement.

How is VizOps different from DevOps and MLOps?

A software development approach that emphasizes collaboration and communication between development and operations teams to automate and streamline the entire software development lifecycle.

MLOps, or Machine Learning Operations, applies DevOps principles to machine learning by automating and streamlining the model lifecycle from training to deployment and monitoring. It is well suited for structured and semi-structured data like text and tables, but less effective for the unique challenges of working with pixels in images and video.

VizOps is a discipline that adapts DevOps and MLOps principles to computer vision. It is a way of working that addresses the unique endpoint environment of cameras and the complex challenges of processing video and image data, while streamlining the entire lifecycle from capture to deployment, inference, and continuous improvement.
