New Plainsight FilterBox support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro brings e-commerce-like accuracy & efficiency to use cases like inventory and yield management, quality control, and compliance tracking in manufacturing, agriculture, retail, and beyond

SEATTLE, June 11, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Plainsight Technologies, the leader in generating enterprise data from video feeds, today announced the support of SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro for its FilterBox runtime engine. FilterBox powers Plainsight Filters, which supports SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro as a secure, regulatory-compliant, and immutable host OS for efficient development at the Edge. SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro’s minimal footprint ensures optimal resource allocation for AI workloads, bringing automation for operations and delivering accurate data for planning and analysis to ERP teams.

E-commerce and internet-based systems have highly accurate data about inventory, fulfillment, and even customer desires. Plainsight brings this level of visibility to the physical world by extracting enterprise data directly from cameras using AI-powered filters.

Plainsight leverages cutting-edge Computer Vision AI models on K3s lightweight Kubernetes instances to translate real-time video into valuable business metrics. This data seamlessly integrates with ERP and business intelligence systems, enabling physical businesses to use e-commerce-like data to make informed decisions and gain valuable insights.

This integration marks a first-of-its-kind collaboration, bringing Plainsight’s advanced computer vision capabilities to SUSE Linux Enterprise Micro users. Plainsight has simplified the process of building, deploying, and managing computer vision applications with FilterBox. Using modern DevOps software management, it allows enterprise data to be collected from smart cameras within the physical infrastructure of companies trying to optimize their operations.

“The next frontier of the AI discussion will be the day-to-day impact of computer vision on enterprise data systems,” said Kit Merker, CEO of Plainsight Technologies. “Plainsight is helping companies track inventory, find defects, estimate yield, and generally improve the accuracy of their data about the physical aspects of their company—while requiring no AI expertise. Now SAP consultants working with SUSE will have a familiar experience in easily deploying our computer vision apps, known as ‘Filters,’ to their enterprise customers.”

Plainsight Filters cater to various industry verticals and use cases, revolutionizing processes such as inventory and yield management, quality control, and compliance tracking. By leveraging Filters, industries including manufacturing, agriculture, and retail can unlock new levels of analysis and operational efficiency. Simply put, if it’s visible, it can be quantified using computer vision and existing cameras.

“SUSE supports a variety of workloads, from massive SAP HANA deployments to computer vision at the Edge. With Plainsight, we can bring advanced vision intelligence to organizations that connect enterprise data to the heart of their ERP and analytics processes – all powered by SUSE,” said Rick Spencer, General Manager of Business-Critical Linux in SUSE.

Plainsight is proud to be a sponsor of SUSECON 2024, and will be demonstrating the solution live in the Technology Showcase.
